Now it is essential to carry identity proof cards for the passengers during their journey in air conditioned classes, directives given by Railways. This is not applicable in case of passengers who are automatically upgraded by the system from Sleeper Class to air-conditioned class and in case of passengers who are upgraded by on-board ticket checking staff on realization of deference of fare. It is also clarified that the scope of the term “Photo-Identity card” having serial number issued by Central/State government is very wide which includes
1. Voter Photo Identity card issued by Election Commission of India
2. Passport
3. PAN card issued by Income Tax department
4. Driving license issued by RTO
5. Student Identity card with photograph issued by recognized school/
College for their students
6. Nationalized Bank Pass-book with Photograph
7. Credit cards issued by Banks with laminated photograph
8. Pension Pay orders
9. Ration card with Photographs
10. Senior citizen cards
11. Below Poverty Line cards
12. Employees state Insurance card with photograph
13. Central Government Health Scheme card with photograph
