Bhubaneswar: KIIT University won East Zone Inter University Tennis Championship (Men) held in KIIT premises from 4th to 6th October 2011. Calcutta University finished runner up, while B.H.U., Varanasi and Manipur University annexed 3rd and 4th positions respectively. Total nine teams participated.
The top four teams have qualified for All India Inter University Tennis Championship (Men) to be held at Manipal University in December. Teams from other three zones would also play in this championship.
In Women’s section, Calcutta University won top honours, while KIIT finished runner up. Pandit Ravi Shankar University and GGD University bagged 3rd and 4th positions respectively. Total seven teams participated. Like in Men’s section, the top four teams would play in All India Inter University Tennis Championship (Women) to be held at KIIT in November.
