Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik reviewed the flood relief operation and the assessment of crop loss during the current flood. The following decisions were taken in the meeting.
· Assessment of crop loss as per the provisions of Odisha Relief Code must be completed in all affected districts in all respects within a time frame.
· Assessment should be made jointly by drawing field level and supervisory officials from revenue, agriculture and statistics departments.
· Due diligence is to be exercised while making assessment of crop loss of small & marginal farmers and actual cultivators.
· Extent of damage caused to agricultural, horticultural, sericulture crops, annual plantation and perennial crops due to flood is to be accurately calculated and thereafter displayed in villages.
· Joint Secretary level officers deployed to blocks for monitoring House damage assessment shall also coordinate, guide and supervise assessment of Crop loss on a day to day basis.
· All payments should be made in shape of account payee cheques.
· Agriculture Department should take immediate steps to arrange & distribute quality seeds in sufficient quantity for alternate cropping.
· To prevent pest epidemic, pest control operations are to be organized.
