Suparno Satpathy admonishes the neglect of Midday meal in Dhenkanal. '39 children fall ill after a dead scorpion is found in the Midday meal'






Dhenkanal ,19/7 ( Odisha Samachar ) : Close to the unfortunate death of around 40 children in the infamous Bihar midday meal tragedy today 39 children fell ill after consuming midday meal at the Upper Primary School of Siaria Tailasahi of Dhenkanal District.

Latika Behera a class five student spotted a dead scorpion in the potato - soya curry served in the midday meal. Soon after all the children complaint of uneasiness and started vomiting. 39 students where rushed to the district headquarter Hospital at Dhenkanal Town. The CDMO has confirmed that out of the 39 students admitted, 36 children have been discarded after primary treatment where as three students which includes two tribal girls are still kept under observation at the hospital.


Lashing out at the callousness exhibited by the cooks of the said midday meal noted socio-political leader and Chairman of SNSMT Shri. Suparno Satpathy has said that the vigil on the preparation of midday meals and the quality check needs to be tightened so that no such untowardly incident is repeated in the future. He also added that the responsible of this incident at Siaria UP School should be punished in a manner that it sets an example for the others to carry out their midday meal responsibilities with utmost caution and dedication.
